About Edelweiss Passaic:

The heritage of our organization is one rooted in various forms of dance.  In 1957, our early members decided to focus on being an authentic Bavarian Schuhplattler Verein.  Please see Our History for the complete details of our origin.

We have attended and performed at many events and venues throughout our history – The annual Steuben Day Parade in New York City, the Steel Stacks Arts Quest Oktoberfest, The Chester Lions Club weekend event, to name just a few.  In fact, we performed in the Singer Bowl at the New York World’s Fair in 1964.

We are a member organization of the United Bavarians of New York and New Jersey and a member of the Mid-Atlantic Schuhplattler, which holds annual Kinderfest and Jugend Einzel and Heimatabend events for children.

We are also a charter member of the Gauverband Nordamerika, a national organization which has 70 members vereins from across the US and Canada.  Biennially, this organization holds a 4-day cultural event called a Gaufest, which includes dance competition, folk music, dance exhibitions and workshops for 1,500 adults and children.  Edelweiss-Passaic is proud to have been selected as the host of this event for 2022.
